VIDEO | Flowers and Their Stories: An Interview with Vanessa Marlin

marlin

The Bell and Trunk flower shop was first started by two florists named Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Trunk 30 years ago. Vanessa Marlin, a Mills alum who graduated in 2008 with a BA in literature, bought the shop 5 years ago after she was laid off from the San Francisco Chronicle.

In her video interview with The Campanil, Marlin shares stories of how her flower arrangements have reconnected family and brought simple delights into people’s lives.

The shop is located on 1411 18th St., San Francisco, CA 94107. Its open hours are from Mondays to Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays to Sundays by appointment-only. They sell custom floral arrangements, gifts, antiques, hand-crafted gifts, and toys. Ships flowers nationwide and delivers anywhere in San Francisco with free delivery in Potrero Hill.

Filmed and edited by Madeline Adamo. This project was created as a profile story for Adamo’s reporting class, Journalism 72: Telling True Stories.
