On Sept. 23, Mills students received a message that told them to "shelter in place" because there was "an active police incident on Seminary [Ave]." It also warned students not to go near the campus back gate. Renee Jadushlever sent the message, dated at 6:18 pm, to everyone who signed up for the emergency notification system.

With the hope that he could do something good on behalf of the Mills students, David Wilson, Bon Appetit general manager, made his personal trip to Nicaragua a philanthropic experience. Before leaving during winter break, Wilson asked the Bon Appetit district manager, David Whalen, if he could dip into Bon Appetit's Mills budget to help out a Nicaraguan school.
The Mills College Intermediate Pubic Radio 2006-2007 students won three awards for their documentary, "The Drop Out Dilemma."
The piece, which aired on National Public Radio affiliate KALW in San Francisco, focused on Oakland public schools and their recent reform movements.
