Jules Cooch, freshwoman, Mills CC

When Jules Cooch decided to come out for cross country as a first-year student at Mills, she decided to do it right from the beginning. Although her only sports background was playing Ultimate Frisbee, she trained for cross country all summer long, something that is expected of veteran runners, but rarely done by athletes new to the team.

The Mills soccer team has had a challenging start to their season, but that hasn't stopped goalkeeper Emily Meike from playing with heart and dedication. Mills played Menlo, Simpson, and Dominican last week, and while they lost the games, Meike shined as the defensive hero.

The Mills volleyball team opened their season at the Wildcat Invitational Tournament in Newburg, Oregon on August 29-30. For junior Alissa Chasten, this was a chance to reestablish herself as a team leader. Now in her third season for Mills as a middle blocker, Alissa played a huge role in assisting the team to a five-set win against St.
