Last weekend senior Emily Lebsack swam her way to three top-10 all-time Mills College swimming records, earning her this week’s Cyclone spotlight.
She swam two of those times on Fri. Jan. 29, against Cal State University East Bay, where she finished the 50 breast stroke in 40.07 and the 100 International Medley (IM) in 1:17.17 – the 10th and sixth fastest times in Mills swimming history respectively.
Two days later she came back in full force when the team competed against the California Institute of Technology and Chapman University in Southern California. Her 100 breast stroke time of 1:24.26 was the eighth fastest time in Mills history.
A studio art major from Cheyenne, Wyo., Emily has been a strong presence on her team.
“Emily has made a great contribution to the 2009-2010 team,” said Head Swimming Coach Neil Virtue. “She is committed, supportive, and competitive, and challenges her teammates.”
You can cheer on the Mills swimmers at their last home meet of the season against Cal Tech Sat Feb. 13. The team will finish its season at the NAIA National Championships in March.
