Connie Lee, Cross Country

Cyclone of the Week honors for this week goes to Connie Lee. A junior, Lee is in her first season with the cross country team. She competed in four races this season, improving each time she ran. This past weekend, she was one of seven Cyclones to represent Mills at the NCAA West Regional Championships. Despite tough conditions and a difficult course, she took 37 seconds off her fastest 6k time for a personal best. Head coach, Cindy Olavarri, said, “Considering the race conditions, that was a fantastic performance!”

Congratulations, Connie!

Gabriella Amberchan, Swimming

Cyclone of the Week honors go to senior Gabriella Amberchan. A four-year swimmer, Amberchan recently swam for five lifetime bests in the team’s meets in Oregon. Her lifetime bests came in all five of the events she swam, giving her a best time percentage of 100% for the weekend. Amberchan dropped four seconds in the 200-free, two seconds in the 50-free and seven seconds in the 500-free. Her drop of 16 seconds in the mile was not only a best time, but put her back on the Mills Top Ten list. Coach Neil Virtue notes that it is very impressive to see this in a four-year senior and highlights her consistency and commitment.

Congratulations, Gaby!
