Undergrads are assembling their works for the upcoming Undergrad Underground showcase of interdisciplinary arts on Thursday, March 1st in the Haas Pavilion from 6:30-7 p.m. or later. The mix will include performances by an improv music class, improv dance, solo dance choreography and screendance videos made in the fall semester.
Plus, there is room for more! Undergraduate students from all disciplines are invited to submit artwork, writing, videos, visual art, performance ideas, musical theater and more until Feb. 23.
“It’s very informal,” said Marion Reader, the first-time director of the annual Underground show. “Usually it’s mostly dance performances… I’m hoping this year that it will be very interdisciplinary.”
UU is also a way for seniors to showcase their theses.
“I’m going to be doing that — a snippet of what I’m working on,” Reader said, whose work explores the experiences of queer and gender non-conforming dancers “because we’re not well-represented in Western concert dance.”
At the performance, a bake sale will raise funds toward the senior thesis projects, and toward the summer scholarship for undergraduates and graduates who plan to participate in off-campus dance programs and intensives over the summer.

Undergrad Underground will be held in Haas Pavilion’s basement-level Studio 3. Admission is free and open to the public.
