FASHION | Convocation 2013

Hello My Darlings,

This year’s Convocation was a very special day: we celebrated the graduating Class of 2014 and the 161st anniversary of Mills College.

Congrats to the future grads, academic award winners, faculty members who were recognized, and the wonderful Class of 1963, who were also celebrating their 50th anniversary. I’d like to give a special shout out to all the fabulous fashionistas I saw strutting across Holmgren Meadow that day!

While everybody was decked out in their Mills regalia, the outstanding collection of high heels was what immediately caught my eye. It was incredible seeing everyone glowing in their done up ‘dos and their favorite pairs of peep-toe wedges or pointed-toe pumps.

Graduating senior Charlette Viney graced the Meadow with her elegant black pointed-toe pumps with an added pop of color. Her neon purple purse with gold trimmings highlighted her Mills regalia. She completed her look with a classic hairdo, rose gold Forever 21 stud earrings, and her Maybelline lip gloss.

Lip gloss, or lipstick, is the easiest way to add some colorful shine to your smile. If you’re ever in too much of a hurry to put on makeup, but you’d still like to have a little extra something, applying lip gloss or lipstick with a few quick wisps of mascara will give the illusion that you took your sweet time this morning. It’s all about natural beauty, my darlings. All you’re doing is highlighting and enhancing what is already there.

Sheila Bauzon, senior, rocked her nude color strap-on wedges with her baby pink lace dress. She completed her look with straight blonde ombre hair, light pink eyeshadow, and matching lipgloss. The form-fitting dress elongated her legs, which were also heightened by her high heels.

High heels are a great way to add more tone to your legs. They help you flex your calves and even add a little lift to that booty! When you’re wearing your favorite little dress, or whenever you feel like flashing a little leg, high heels will help highlight those beautiful stems of yours.

Also featured in this week’s fashion blog post is President Alecia DeCoudreaux! She rocked her bright purple dress suit underneath her Convocation regalia.

DeCoudreaux greeted students after the event and took beautiful photos with the eager future graduates and their best friends.

And finally, I thought I’d match a name with a face. I dressed up for the special occasion in my favorite black and white galaxy cut-out leggings and a dress-like tank I got from H&M. I completed my look with a bright pink pop of color as seen on the tips of my peep-toe gray pumps and my lips. I’m wearing Maybelline’s “fierce fuchsia” lipstick.

Online Editor Melodie Miu and I will be out in Adams Plaza next week looking for our favorite outfits. If you’d like to be featured on my blog, show me what you got! If you have any ideas or if you’d like to contribute to my blog, please email me at sugapong@thecampanil.com.

Until then, stay tuned, stay curious, and stay fabulous!

XOXO,
