Cyclone spotlight: competing to win

In its last home match of the season on April 10, the Mills tennis team ended with an impressive 7-2 win against Notre Dame de Namur University.

Sophomore and second-year player Chelsea Bruno led the effort both in singles and in doubles. Bruno and her doubles partner Cheryl Sundheim defeated the number two team from NDNU with an impressive 8-0 win. Bruno then went on to play in singles, this time at the number three position, and won 6-1.

Head Tennis Coach Jesse Medvene-Collins said Bruno’s success against NDNU was thanks to her focus, positive energy and strong desire to do everything she could to win each point.

“Chelsea has proven all season to be a great competitor,” Medvene-Collins said. “She really understands the need in tennis to fight hard and work for each and every point.”
