Lora ChauDavis, a sophomore Anthropology & Sociology/Studio Art double major, has a unique role with Mills Crew. As the coxswain, she steers the boat and motivates the crew; a challenging and special job.

Last weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic, one of the largest regattas in the country, Lora coxed the varsity 8+ in two very tight races. She was able to stay calm and focused with all the distractions around her.  She helped the team “keep their heads in the boat” to get a win in the Petite Final of the DII/III/Club Varsity 8+ race.

“Lora has stepped up her level of intensity this year and has done a great job of adapting to the changes required in working with a new coach and my expectations,” said head coach Sara Nevin.

Lora’s positive, cheery attitude and desire to learn new things make her an asset to the team. Lora is also a very committed and active member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a leadership group that acts as a liaison for student-athletes and the
athletic department.
