Cyclone Spotlight: Amelia True

Hard work and leadership have earned Amelia True Cyclone of the Week honors. True is a graduate student in the School of Education and has returned to the swim team after four years away from the sport. Since returning, she has dropped times in every race while racing many different events, including long distance swims. True dropped 14 seconds from the 500 yard freestyle, 1:07 from the mile, and three seconds from the 100 yard butterfly.

She earned a place on Mills’ top ten list in the 500 yard freestyle and moved up on the list in the mile. In the first meet of the season, she dropped four seconds in the 200 yard individual medley and has already topped that, dropping seven seconds this past weekend from her previous week’s personal best.

In her four years away from Mills after graduating, True competed in long-distance triathlons, which allowed her to return to the team with an athletic maturity and mental toughness that are evident in her races thus far. In practice she is consistent, positive, and hardworking, leading her teammates by example. We look forward to seeing the rest of Amelia True’s races this season.
