Holmgren hangs in Mills Hall

A portrait of Janet Holmgren, Mills College's last president, now hangs in Mills Hall. The portrait is painted by Hung Liu, a faculty member at Mills since 1990.

Aurelia Reinhardt’s portrait in Mills Hall has been replaced by a painting of Janet Holmgren, Mills’ past president.

The portrait, created earlier this year by Hung Liu, a member of the Mills College faculty, strongly resonates with the artist’s well-known style, utilizing oil on a large canvas with dripping effects upon a background of yellow eucalyptus leaves.

Liu is a prominent artist in the Bay Area art scene and beyond and has been featured on the walls of SFO and the Oakland Museum of California. She has been a faculty member at Mills College since 1990, teaching painting as Professor of Studio Art.
