Safe sex experts back by popular demand

The Department of Health and Wellness is welcoming Planned Parenthood to campus in response to student demand for more information regarding safer sex and related topics.

Students do not always have the access they need to information regarding sexual health, so many turn to Planned Parenthood, an organization dedicated to providing affordable care. It specializes in reproductive and sexual health, offering education, information and screenings – 90 percent of which is preventative. Planned Parenthood offers tests and treatment for a range of issues.

In their three visits to campus last year, Planned Parenthood discussed contraceptives and reducing one’s risk of catching sexually transmitted infections. They also held discussions exploring consent, healthy relationships and good partner communication.

Planned Parenthood will be at Mills on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business. There will be informational brochures in addition to both male and female condoms.

Pre-registration for the event is not required. For more information, please email Anne Staunton, manager of Wellness and Community Outreach in the Division of Student Life at health@mills.edu.
