ASMC Executive Board Report from November 2 & 9, 2004

Items Approved:

– ASMC supported Mujeres Unidas with their annual Day of the Dead event. This year’s focus was to foster awareness towards the crimes and murders committed against women in Juarez, Mexico. The support did not include financial assistance as Mujeres Unidas fundraised for the event.

– Mills Players received credit for the advertisement of Ruthless.

– Partial funding for the Fair Trade event to be held Nov. 19 open to the entire Mills community.

 

New Appointments:

– Senior Class Secretary Amy DeCoux and Junior Class President Lynne M. Sloan have recently been appointed.

– There is an immediate opening for ASMC Web Coordinator.

– The following positions will be open for appointment in the spring: Co-Organization Coordinator and Historian.

 

Community Committees Report:

– The Diversity subcommittee is working in partnership with WCC on a letter to address the diversity position currently vacant. The committee is also collaborating in the planning for the upcoming Women of Color Retreat.

– The Academic Board is collaborating in drafting a student feedback form to be used for faculty evaluations.

– There will be a revised club policy handbook available at the next Board of Presidents meeting.

 

Community Building Events:

– All students are welcome to attend ASMC meetings held every Tuesday at 9p.m. in Suzie’s Lounge. To be included in the meeting agenda for the purpose of requesting special funding or presenting an idea please e-mail our co-presidents at least 24 hours in advance: Erika Rickard & Gloria Espinosa.

– The Program Board has a few positions available. Please contact Sarah Rolfe if you are interested.

– To participate in the current and future board positions, please contact Emily Eisele or Alexis Buckman

 

Upcoming Events:

– Movie series focused on Heritage Month celebrations.

– Candle Light Vigil, followed by a screening of “Boys Don’t Cry.” In honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance, co-sponsored by Mouthing Off!, on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. at the pond behind Warren Onley.
