For two days, swimmers from the Bay Area and Mills community swam one mile to help raise money for the Women’s Cancer Resource Center.
On Oct. 6 and 7, the sixth annual Swim-A-Mile For Women with Cancer was held at the Mills pool. Head co-ordinator Ali Vogt said that this year she hoped to raise over $1000,000. In response to the swimmers, Vogt said, “It’s so great to see all the people swim for the Women’s Cancer Resource Center.”
Along with Bay Area residents. The Mills community swam for the Center. The Mills swim team all swam together at noon on Saturday. In sets of three per lane, each swimmer swam their one mile.
Before swimming their one mile, some swimmers had comments to say about the fundraiser. Sophomore Ashley Hart said, “We’re all excited. I raised a lot more money this year.” Freshmen Emily Kaufmann also said, “It’s pretty cool. It’s a great cause.”
