Swim-A-Mile comes to Mills

The month of October will kickoff with community-based non-profit, Women’s Cancer Resource Center (WCRC), hosting its 16th annual Swim-a-Mile for Women with Cancer benefit,  at Mills College on October 1-2, 2011.

The WCRC has been providing free services for women with cancer in a non-clinical setting since 1986 and will be celebrating their silver anniversary after 25 years at the Swim-a-Mile benefit.

This unique swimming fundraiser is already anticipating 500 people of all ages, ready to jump into the pool to show their support for people battling with cancer.

Among some of these swimmers are cancer survivors themselves, swimming in celebration of their good health. The Mills College Swim Team will also be contributing their aquatic talents and will swim in the fundraising event.

The Swim-a-Mile benefit is open to all Bay Area residents and is still accepting donations.

Live music, arts and crafts, and a wide array of food and drink will be at the fundraiser in addition to the lively and inspiring events taking place in the pool.

The WCRC along with Mills College encourages everyone to check out the Swim-a-Mile fundraising weekend  and  support the swimmers and the cause. The event will be held at the Trefethen Aquatic Center on the Mills College campus from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, please visit: http://www.wcrc.org/swim
