As opposed to the unhealthy methods of bodily detox, here are a few healthy organic ways to cleanse your body. These recipes are nourishing and will simultaneously flush your system of toxins and other harmful ailments.
Mango smoothie
When this drink is paired with your favorite herbal tea, the mango avocado smoothie becomes a creamy and satisfying breakfast. Try adding hot water and lemon for a great way to soothe a sore throat.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups soy-free almond milk
1/2 cup coconut water
2 leaves kale or Swiss chard, coarsely chopped
1/4 avocado
1/2 cup mango chunks
1/2 cup ice
Directions
Blend together until smooth.
Carrot, Beet, Cabbage and Watercress Juice
While the name of the drink may be unappealing, this deep red juice is packed with vitamins and nutrients. Each of the ingredients touches base with different aspects of food groups and vitamins you wouldn’t normally be able to eat in one whole serving and leaves you feeling full and satisfied. It’s great as a snack to have throughout
the day!
Ingredients
2 medium carrots
1/4 white cabbage
1 small beet
1 cup watercress salad
Directions
Press all ingredients through a juice extractor. Stir, and
drink immediately.
Energy Smoothie
I’m a huge fan of foods that are both sweet and savory at the same time. This energy-boosting smoothie, with its almond butter and peach ingredients, is a good meal choice for any part of your day.
Ingredients
1/4 cup almond butter
2 cardamom pods or 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 1/2 cups pure water
1 cup frozen peaches
1 to 2 teaspoons agave syrup
1/2 cup ice
Directions
Blend together until smooth.
Green Juice
The previous recipes listed make for good breakfast, snack and dinner options. This recipe is a great way to finish your day feeling cleansed and refreshed.
Ingredients
2 green apples
2 stalks celery
1 leaf kale
1 leaf Swiss chard
1/4 cabbage
1 head broccoli
1/2 medium cucumber
1/2 lemon
Directions
Press all ingredients through a juice extractor. Stir, and drink immediately.
The ingredients listed makes two servings. If you don’t want to drink that much of the smoothie you can refrigerate the rest of it (for no more than 24 hours) and save for later, or simply halve the amount of ingredients the recipe calls for.
