Here are suggestions of places to visit while riding along in the new larger Mills Shuttle. This guide offers a variety of places to visit in the Bay Area from the Laurel District to Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. Laurel District, MacArthur Boulevard:
Oakland Community Farmers Market: Open Saturdays all year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. it is maintained by the Oakland Food Connection and sells organic food from the J and P Organic Farm in Salinas, CA.

Lucky: A close-by grocery store for all your necessities. Look for the Weekly Ad on Sundays for price specials and coupons.

Howe Street:
Kaiser Oakland Medical Center: Remember to let the shuttle driver know if you need to make a visit to the Medical Center for emergencies or a doctor’s visit. Students do not need Kaiser insurance to visit, but those without either an individual or Mills plan will have to pay a hefty price for services at all off-campus Kaiser facilities. Appointments should be booked beforehand.

Piedmont Theatre: For the classic moviegoers seeking to see cheap flicks with showings from the silent film era to the studio era including the Star Wars Trilogy. Saturday nights are also prize nights with raffles of film souvenirs. The theatre is currently showing (500) Days of Summer, Julie & Julia, and Taking Woodstock. There are discounted shows at $8 before 6 p.m. Students can visit Oakland’s oldest operating movie theatre since 1917 by taking the AC Transbay-C towards Highland at 41 Street and Piedmont, and get off at Linda Avenue.

Caffe Trieste: Before heading to the movies, students can stop by for Italian espresso and lattès, and occasionally live music.
