Places to relax around campus

Sometimes homework gets to be a little overwhelming, tests and quizzes seem to always be around the corner and there never seems to be enough hours in the day to get everything done.
When that happens, I try to go someplace other than my regular study spots, usually outside, and take a minute to decompress. If you’re like me, and the outdoors helps to clear your mind, then keep reading.
Here are a few places outside that I find nice to rest a moment and breathe to clear my mind.

For a view of the city:

Behind Founders, at the top of the hill, is a great place to get away. Continue on the road, and on the left side, there’s a trail that takes you up a steep hill that evens out to a grove of trees. It’s also a good place to go for a picnic, as the grass and the wall at the top are great places to hang out. There’s a stone structure that can provide a nice place to sit, and several trees scattered around offer shade.

Nice at night:

In between the art buildings, there is a gentle stretch of grass. In the evening, not only can you see the stars, but the light from the art studio is a reassuring reminder that people are there, and it illuminates the grass. It gets cold, so bring a blanket and wear layers.

Calm by the cherries:

Now, while the ornamental cherries are blooming, is a gorgeous time to go sit on the brick steps by CPM behind the clock-tower. When the sun is out, the bricks also soak up some of that heat. This is a place to get away from the bustle of the middle of campus, but it’s still close enough to get to your next class.

Garden by the greenhouse:

On the way to Founders, by NSB, is a little garden with a bench and a wooden arched entrance. You can stop between classes to take a second and relax, or people watch.
