Odd, but cool

For such a bizarre film, “Spirited Away”- a 2001 animated Japanese film recently dubbed into English and released in the U.S.- is very engaging.

There are some unforgettable characters in the film including a hypochondriac baby the size of a house and a ‘stink spirit.’

The critters in the movies “Never Ending Story” and “Lord of the Rings” look like household pets compared to the freakish beings Chihiro, the 10-year-old protagonist, meets.

They are all just part of the strange film directed by noted filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

Although released in the U.S. by Disney, “Spirited Away” is a film adults can see without embarrassment. However, if you hate hearing confused children complaining during movies, you may want to see a late show.

“Spirited Away” is the top-grossing film in the history of Japan, the world’s second largest film market. Find out why. Catch the 10:00 p.m. screening.
