Here’s a chance for a little competition and to change pace from the studying grind.
The brand-new intramural basketball club meets in Haas Gym every Tuesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m., and ever Thursday 6-7:30 p.m.
Fun is the goal! Players of all skill levels are welcome to come join a team or to bring a team along.
You don’t have to be an avid sports player to get involved! Non-players are welcome too.
“We’re interested in building community, so if you want, come work the radio!” club founder Marguerite Rivas said, who goes by Rivas.
The games will be organized on-the-spot as pickup games. The organizers will provide snacks and drinks. They suggest bringing layers of clothes that are easy to run and jump in, with shoes made for basketball, for running, or sneakers.
“No cleats and no high heels,” Rivas joked.
Last semester, Rivas organized informal basketball games. This time, it’s an official club and had a solid turnout of 10 players at the first meet-up.
