After eight years, Anne Gillespie-Brown has resigned as executive director of the alumnae association.
In a post to student-news, Gillespie-Brown said she is returning to the Los Angeles area to be closer to her family. Alluding to current tensions, the message also said, “I do regret the current tenor of the discussions between the College and the AAMC. They do not represent the values of temperance and integrity that Mills promotes. I know that our AAMC leadership will continue to respond in an ethical and dignified manner.”
An alumna herself, Gillespie-Brown earned her degree in sociology and anthropology from Mills in 1968 and returned to Mills in May 1997 to head the AAMC.
The AAMC’s Board of Governors is convening a search committee to find a replacement for Gillespie-Brown.
