If you can’t think of an appropriate present for that special person in your life, remember that it is intended to be a day to show others how much you care, not how much you can spend.

There is no need to spend lots of money because not every girl wants a diamond ring on Valentine’s Day (and if your girl does, then this does not apply to you).

There are plenty of fun, thrifty things you can do to celebrate this day with the special person in your life.

If you want to be romantic and fun, you can’t go wrong with a treasure hunt. Hide small gifts in places for your Valentine and give them clues.

You can make it an all day event by hiding the first present in the beginning of the day if you live with your Valentine.

To keep the mood going and the suspense high, continue giving small, meaningful presents to your Valentine throughout the day, saving the best and grandest present for last.

This Valentine’s Day falls on Friday, which gives you an entire weekend to shower your sweetheart with little gifts of love.

If you’re creative mind stalls when it comes to romantic presents, remember you can’t go wrong with flowers, candy and a card, the traditional staples of Valentine’s day.

But be tactful, don’t buy the grocery store brand candy in a box (no one really likes those). If you’re going to go for candy, buy some that you are sure your Valentine likes because the point of buying candy, after all, is for it to be eaten. Remember, it is the personal touches that will make her smile.

If you intend to go out to dinner for the night, you’re out of luck if you haven’t made reservations. It will be nearly impossible to book reservations in the city but you may be able to order something to go from a restaurant.

If you chose to order take-out try transforming your dining room into that cozy little french restuarant you’ve been wanting to try but couldn’t afford.

Valentine’s day is one of the most disliked holidays of the year because of the intense pressure it puts on couples. American culture has made it one of the most important days in a couple’s relationship but it doesn’t have to be.
