Today is a special day, my darlings. As you may already know, April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In solidarity with sexual assault survivors and in protest against sexual assault, people across the country are wearing denim today for Denim Day.

Denim Day also happens to be the inspiration for today’s fashion blog post.

Sasha West, a senior, wore her denim vest today. Her vest, purchased from a Buffalo Exchange in Denver, had white lace accents along the front and along the collar.

She complimented her look with gray leggings, which she found at the Re-Used Depot on campus, and a teal bandeau. Teal is the color that represents the protest against sexual assault. Her black boots were purchased at the same store as her vest.

We caught Sasha trying on a ton of accessories at the vendor that was present today in front of the Tea Shop. The jewelry that she owns, however, was what caught my eye.

Her chandelier earrings are from Pac Sun. She bought the top necklace from a friend. If you’ll notice, the pendant was made from old watch parts. Intriguing, to say the least. I absolutely love it! It is a unique touch to her overall look.

Justin Wyckoff, who is temporarily working at the Aron Art Museum on campus, was rocking his jeans that he bought on sale in Paris when he travelled there a couple years ago. His shirt and belt were hand-me-downs which he has owned for a very long time.

His earrings were a DIY project. He was tired of spending money on earrings, so he cut them down from an industrial sized rod of steel and sawed them down to fit his ears. Something I have never seen done before, so it’s definitely the one of the rarest ways to accessorize your outfit!

It’s been a while since I’ve featured myself on my blog so I figured I’d choose today, since it is a special occasion.

I chose to wear my favorite pair of high-waisted denim shorts. I complemented the look with this eccentric print on my shawl. In light of the warm weather, I thought I’d show off some skin. Always remember my darlings, there’s nothing wrong with keeping cool in the comfort of your own skin. I added a tan/brown accent with my belt and matched that with my high-heeled peep toe boots. I added a pop of color on my face. I couldn’t wait to try on my new pink lipstick. I did my hair in a sock bun (which, by the way is horrendously difficult when you have 20+ inches of hair).

Melodie and I will be back next Wednesday to look for our favorite outfits of the week! Remember to keep it cool in your favorite spring outfits.

Stay Fierce My Darlings,
