Fall semester class picks from the editors of The Campanil

Ashley Guillory, news editor

The Curious and the Damned: Knowing Too Much in the 19th Century – Kara Wittman
Thurs. 2:30-5 p.m.

How dangerous is knowledge? This class tries to address what roles curiosity and forbidden knowledge play in a time known for its strict laws and social order.

Anna Belle Peterson, managing editor

Northern European Art – Lisa Regan
Tues. and Thurs. 1-2:15 p.m.

This class is only offered every couple of years and it includes looking at both paintings and prints from Northern Europe. It will definitely not be an average art history class and Professor Regan is fantastic.

Max Hoppe, design editor

Shakespeare – Marcia Eppich-Harris
Wed. 6:45-9:15 p.m.

I know, I know. Shakespeare? How obvious. But Marcia makes the bard feel new again, relating his plays easily to modern life and other literature. I took this class last fall: she made me feel like I could be a literary scholar and I would take it again if I had the time.

Christina Macias, calendar editor

Music for the Dancer – Judy Rosenberg
Mon. and Wed. 1-2:15 p.m.

I really enjoyed this class. Basically, Judy teaches principles of music theory and history in the context of dance. We learn music notation and both compose and choreograph some short pieces. The goal of the class is to make us more musical dancers.
