Cyclone Spotlight: Mills Cheer Squad

This week’s Cyclone of the Week honors go to the Mills College Cheer Squad. The Cheer Squad is in its second year and has seen its’ membership jump from four to eleven devoted members. This student driven group meets regularly to work on cheers and routines, often practicing in the early morning. Their dedication has certainly paid off and anyone who has attended a Cyclone’s home game this year has had the privilege of seeing them in action.

The Cheer Squad regularly attends home events, entertaining the crowd during timeouts and halftime, leading fans in cheers, and offering support to their fellow Cyclones. Their energy and spirit transform the gym during volleyball games, impress visiting teams and most importantly encourage players to give their all.

Of the team, member, junior and The Campanil Asst. Online Editor, Fatima Sugapong, said, “I’m really proud of our team. We’ve worked really hard and this semester our team grew bigger. Our new girls took our team to a new level and I’m really excited to see where we go from here.”

Thieir hard work is clearly evident and it will be exciting to watch their continued growth as a squad. A huge thank you and congratulations to the Cheer Squad!
