The Cross Country team gave their strongest team performance of the season at the 15th Annual Mills Invitational last Friday. Running in front of a very supportive home crowd, the Cyclones were led by 11th place junior Claire Abe (23:24).
A pack of four Cyclones trailed close behind to seal the runner-up spot behind the defending champions of Santa Cruz. Senior captain Dee Montero placed 14th overall (23:47) and was trailed by 16th place freshwoman Jasmine Nakagawa (23:49), 17th place sophomore Tyliah Hoa (23:58) and senior co-captain Bianca Hovda (24:23) in 19th place. Sophomore Beth Culig (25:05) and freshwoman Melody Ferris (27:18) rounded out the top seven finishers. Additionally, seniors Jill Kunishima (28:12), Mehgen Delaney (30:22), and Shari de Costa (34:02) had “breakthrough” individual performances on the challenging home course. Congratulations, Mills Cross Country!
