College contemplates purchase of new shuttle vehicle

On Tuesday, Mar. 3, students waiting for the Mills van in the afternoon were met with a large surprise.

Instead of the regular 12-16 seat van, a 30 passenger white van arrived at the shuttle stop.

This van may replace one of the current Mills vans, according to Niviece Robinson, assistant director of Public Safety.

In the past, Mills’ current shuttles sometimes filled too quickly, leaving some students without transportation. With more seats available, this may become less of a problem.

“Right now, we’re just looking at the van,” Robinson said. Administration officials have not decided whether or not to purchase new vehicles, she said.

“We’re not getting one because the old one is broken,” she said. “We’re just looking for an upgrade.”

She also does not know what company would provide the van should the administration okay the purchase.
