The staff recently got an update that we have won SEVEN awards at California College Media Association’s (CCMA) annual student journalism competition and not six as we’ve previously reported — which is amazing for us. We were competing against all California college presses in the 2011 non-weekly publication section.
We got the seventh award on our coverage of the San Bruno Fire last year. You can check out the articles below:
“Breaking News: San Bruno gas fire leaves 7 dead”
Lauren Sliter, Chief News Editor
“Mills reacts to San Bruno fire“
Lauren Sliter, Chief News Editor
“Mills student’s eye-witness account of San Bruno gas explosion”
Hilda Ramos, Contributing writer
The winning news series came from our third issue of the Fall 2010 semester. Take a look at the online edition below:
The Campanil staff will be busy during our weekend excursion from March 3-6 (starting tomorrow Thursday) in Los Angeles for the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) convention.
For Mills College and the rest of our readers, this crucial trip means we will NOT have a new print issue published next week. However, you can check back on our special ACP 2011 page everyday for our staff blogs.
We are also still raising funds for the trip. If you can, please donate any amount to The Campanil‘s PayPal below.
