Last Thursday, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan spoke of the events leading her to run for Congress and called for the audience of students to take political action.
The event, sponsored by the Mills College Peace Coalition, was held in the Student Union on March 13.
When an electrical transformer near the hilltop apartments threatened to overload, an emergency notice was sent out to the campus community for the first time since the new system was implemented in 2007.
The message- which was delivered through e-mail, text and phone/voicemail - said that all four of the endangered residences must be evacuated, Underwood Road would be closed and cars in the area should be moved to Richards Gate.
Nalini Ghuman, an assistant professor of music at Mills College, stepped into the United States for the first time in nearly two years, ending her struggle to reenter the country.
Ghuman arrived at Mills on Jan. 24, 2008. "It feels great to be back," said Ghuman.

The Mills College Telephone Outreach Program set a record when it surpassed its fundraising goals for the 2007-2008 school year, raising $560,978 as of Feb. 7, 2008, according to Danielle Brown, assistant director of the program.

Welcome back Mills! The fall semester of 2007 brings a whole new class of women and so many other dramatic and complex changes to campus. None of us can fail to notice the stark nothingness where the heavily-debated Eucalyptus trees once stood. Equally eye-catching is the beautiful, new Natural Sciences Building that had been under construction for the previous year.
Bon Appetit replaced Mills College's former in-house dining service on July 30, 2007, leading to renovations. Now controlled by the Palo Alto-based food management company, all of Mills' dining services employees were required to reapply with Bon Appetit or else not continue working with Mills.
