Music professor unveils new project

Chris Brown, professor of music at Mills, presented his piece entitled VAV with fellow professor John Bischoff and their computer network ensemble, The Hub, at the Contemporary Jewish Museum on Thursday, Oct. 23.

The pre-recorded piece was presented through the existing seven speakers suspended from the ceiling, and an additional five speakers on the ground surrounding the audience.

Laurel bike trail to improve roadways

The Mills-MacArthur Gateway Project received a grant from CalTrans to create a pedestrian and bike path that would run from Mills to the Laurel district, and would include beautification of the intersection just outside the main entrance to campus. In the coming weeks a city council member will be assigned to lead the project and an official timeline will be produced thereafter.

A new bill for the “pill”

Many women seeking birth control have faced higher prices on their contraceptive prescriptions since a provision in the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.

According to Planned Parenthood's Affordable Birth Control Issue Brief, the Act lifted government subsidies on birth control on college campuses, causing "the pill" to cost significantly more than in previous years.
