Visiting dancer inspires Mills

Mills was one of twelve venues chosen by the Phi Beta Kappa Society to be visited by the east coast dancer and choreographer, Gus Solomons Jr. Solomons was introduced last week to a Dance Improvisation class at Mills as "a person of whom you can ask anything at all because for fifty years he has been associated with any and all dance companies and dancers you may have heard of or seen.

Planned Berkeley Stadium addition under court scrutiny

Plaintiffs in a suit against the University of California Regents believe that if an earthquake were to hit, it would be likely that the University of California Berkeley stadium would be displaced and slide down its hill. Last week, the Panoramic Hill Association, the City of Berkeley and the California Oak Foundation opposed the Regents plan to attach a sports center to the stadium's west wall.

AXIS: Movement for all

The resident dance company on campus this semester is AXIS, the Oakland-based ensemble known in the United States for its repertory of works exploring the performance of dancers who, in relation to movement, are compromised. But as soon as audiences discover AXIS, they quickly realize the dancers are not compromised at all.
