ASMC news you can use

For the past two weeks, members from ASMC have been working very
hard to clean-up and remodel the ASMC office, situated on the back
side of the Student Union.

We have been putting a lot of effort into this task because we
want our office to be more inviting for everyone. The office is
primarily used for our office hours, which are posted weekly on the
student news and began this week. Our office hours are for anyone
who would like to come and talk to us about ideas and/or
suggestions for their Mills community.

Also, you may want to stop by to talk about items you would like
to put on a future ASMC agenda, or you might want to know about us.
We held an open-house last Wednesday during Fall Explosion, but if
you missed it come by soon.

One of ASMC’s most exciting abilities is that it can sponsor
events for clubs, which it does quite often in the hope that it can
contribute to Mills College’s outgoing atmosphere and give back to
the students.

This month the members of ASMC are pleased to announce that we
came to an almost unanimous decision to sponsor two members of the
Pre-Law Fraternity on campus, Phi Alpha Delta, to go to a National
Phi Alpha Delta conference in Washington D.C. on November 6th-9th.
The members going to this conference will be holding a seminar for
the Mills community about what they learned at the conference, so
look for that in the future.

We also co-sponsored a dance with Mujeres Unidas last Friday
night. It was great!

Some other upcoming ASMC events to look forward to are a town
hall meeting about safety on campus in the Student Union in the
beginning of October and a “Pretty and Pink” themed fall formal
dance on October 25th. So dust off your big ’80s dresses and we
will see you there.

Elections: Freshwoman and Senior class elections for new
representatives have been taking place the past two weeks. The
voting was over September 25th and the newly elected President,
Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary for Freshwomen and Seniors
were announced September 26th. For more information about your
class representatives please e-mail asmc@mills.edu.

We would also like to remind everyone that you are welcome to
come to our meetings, which are Mondays at 8:30 p.m. in the room
next to Suzie’s Lounge.
