Mills hosts annual fundraiser and community swims for breast cancer awareness

Allison Morris

Swim-A-Mile is an annual fundraising event in conjunction with the Women’s Cancer Resource Center hosted at Mills. On Oct. 4 and 5, an estimated 500 people participated at the event at Mills’ Trefethen Aquatic Center, where entrants had the opportunity to swim or water-walk one (36 laps), full mile. Families and friends were on hand to cheer the swimmers on. Since 1995, more than 5,000 swimmers have participated in this event and helped raise $1.91 million to help local Bay Area women with cancer and their families.
