Mills College WeeklyIn their second game of the season, the soccer team lost Friday to Oregon Tech with a 0-2 score, despite an energetic effort.
The Cyclones played an impressive game before an audience of more than 50 soccer fans rooting for either Mills or their opponent, Oregon Tech.
Energetic Rowdy Rooters-Mills “cheerleaders”- cheered their home team to “put the pressure on.”
Watching the game were several former soccer team players.
“This was a very well-played game,” said junior Cassie Pinnell, who also described the game as aggressive.
The Cyclones were successful in guarding their goal for the first two-thirds of the game.
Co-captains Molly Sheiken (#7) and Maliheh Nakai (#17), led their team to a strong effort on the field, wowing the crowd with their soccer savvy.
Sophomore and returning player Cheyenne Purrington said that because Oregon Tech, from Klamath Falls, Ore., has already played several games this season, they had a slight advantage.
Purrington added that the Cyclones did very well and have a lot of potential. She expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming soccer season and the new players.
“Everyone had a lot of energy and [we] played our hearts out,” Purrington said. “Once Cal PAC comes around we should be all set.”
