Cyclone of the Week – Mother Nature

After a week of beautiful, sunny weather, Mother Nature pulled a
switch on the Bay Area and turned us into something more resembling
the British Isles than “sunny California.” As a result, scheduled
tennis matches were delayed, postponed or cancelled. And since
tennis is currently the only active sport for Mills, the lack of
activity left us with a lack of standout athletes.

Have no fear, faithful readers, tennis matches will soon be
played, and the crew team is priming themselves for the start of
the spring season (see Laura K. Cucullu’s article in this issue).
The next issue of The Weekly will highlight senior Cyclone
swimmers, as well as the women selected by the Athletic Department
as Cyclones of the Week (weather, of course, permitting).

Lip Sync Contest

Thurs. Mar. 4, Haas Pavilion, 7 p.m.

Join us for the hottest evening of entertainment on campus as
the students, faculty and staff of Mills College take to the stage
to perform their favorite songs. Have your moment in the spotlight
or come see others as you’ve never seen them before.

Elephant Seals at Ano Nuevo

Fri. Mar. 5, $8, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Enjoy a guided 3 mile, 2.5 hour walk through the sand dunes to
watch elephant seals in their natural environment, approximately 30
miles south of Half Moon Bay. Limit of 10 people.

Women’s Health Conference

Sat. Mar. 20, $25, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Learn the latest information from the nation’s leading women’s
health professionals! Expand your vision of health to include
prevention, complementary medicine, fiscal fitness, career choices
and political action! Jump start your personal wellness with visits
to interactive self-care rooms. The special student rate of $25
includes [activities] plus breakfast, lunch and live
entertainment.
