The crosscountry team competed in a strong field of over 100 runners at the “Big Wave” Invitational hosted by University of Hawaii on Saturday September 21. Junior Claire Abe led the way for the Cyclones with a time of 23:33 over the hot and challenging 5 km terrain. Claire was followed by Senior Co-Captain Dee Montero (25:37), Tyliah Hoa (So), Ashley Hart (Jr), and Jasmine Nakagawa (Fr) who ran in a tight pack to round out the top 5 scoring finishers for Mills. Senior Co-Captain Bianca Hovda, Beth Culig (So), Melody Ferris (Fr), Jill Kunishima (Sr), Mehgen Delaney (Sr), and Shari de Costa (Sr) also ran strong races for the Cyclones. Nationally ranked Brigham Young University and Mount SAC were the top two teams at the meet.
