The Mills Cross Country team ran strong against outstanding competition at the NAIA Region II Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Junior Claire Abe again led the way for the Cyclones with time of 23:18 over the muddy 3.1 mile course.
Sophomore Tyliah Hoa (23:18) and senior co-captain Dee Montero (23:30) ran their best races of the season and were closely followed by senior co-captain Bianca Hovda (23:49), freshwoman Jasmine Nakagawa (24:06), and sophomore Beth Culig (24:33). Freshwoman Melody Ferris ran her lifetime best (25:58) to round out the top seven runners.
The Cyclones placed 12 out of 15 teams, including three nationally ranked teams. Asuza Pacific was the winning team with a mere one point margin over runner-up Concordia College and will advance to the NAIA National Championships on November 23rd in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
